Summer is winding down and before you know it school will be back in session. Unfortunately, you can’t expect students to retain each and every lesson over the long summer months. If you want to send your child back to class just as sharp as the day school let out, practice the basics with your child with one of our mobile apps. Brush up on vocabulary with our Nouns, Verbs or Describing Words apps or help your student get comfortable with her surroundings with our School Signs and Words app. Prepare your child for the social aspect of school with our Social Skills apps. The best part about the applications; you’ll never have to fight your child about cracking open a book!
School Signs and Words
Sending your child to school is a great way to give them a sense of independence and a chance to explore on their own. Sure they’ll be supervised, but you can bet they won’t be receiving the same one-on-one attention they get at home. The School Signs and Words app was designed to give students the knowledge and confidence to navigate the school hallways on their own. This app features 80 different key signs and words found within a school setting.
Functional Literacy
Going back to school after having several months off in the summer is stressful enough on account of the change in routine, don’t let the academics aspect of school add to your child’s anxiety. Help your student brush up on vocabulary and grammar with our Nouns, Verbs, and Describing Words apps. The Verbs and Nouns apps are broken down into three separate apps, each including 80 vocabulary words and over 100 hours of individual print and group activities to reinforce learning.
Functional Math Skills
Our Functional Math Skills series uses money as a practical and interesting way to teach math skills. Our Coins and Dollars App teaches users how to identify coins and dollars by their respective picture, name, and value. Take it one step further with our Money Equivalence App, which teaches common combinations of coins and bills that are equivalent in value.
Social Skills
Spending the summer months at home can cause students to lose some of the social skills they may have built up during the school year. Although students still have contact with people during summer vacation, it’s most likely not to the extent or magnitude of that of the school year. When school is in session, students are put into social situations all day, everyday and they get used to it. Our Social Skills Series and Communications Skills App will help you be proactive in preparing your child for the influx of social stimuli that comes with the beginning of a new school year. Choose from our Personal Social Skills, Initiating Social Skills, Everyday Social Skills, and Communication Skills App to get a head start.
The beginning of a new school year can be both exciting and stressful at the same time, not just for students, but for parents as well. You want your child to get the most out of school and to have a positive experience. Although there’s no way to guarantee either of these outcomes, by preparing your child ahead of time, your child’s chance of success increases exponentially.
