Everyday Social Skills
This program provides users with a simple and direct approach to learning everyday social skill and is a must for any social skills training program. Everyday Social Skills addresses basic social skills necessary for interactions within the community, such as walking down the street, using a restroom, waiting in line, asking for directions or information and joining in a group.
Using a Restroom
- Find the correct restroom
- Wait for your turn
- Respect the privacy of others
- Don’t stare at others
- Find an empty stall
- Check for toilet paper
- Enter the stall
- Lock the stall door
- Flush the toilet when done
- Clean up after yourself
- Get your belongings
- Unlock the stall door
- Wash your hands
- Check yourself over
- Exit the restroom
Asking for Information/Help
- Decide if you need help
- Decide who you will ask for help
- Go to the person
- Look at the person
- Don’t interrupt others
- Ask for help
- Let the person help you
- When done, thank the person
Waiting in Line
- Go to the end of the line
- Give space to others
- Don’t stare at others
- Talk quietly
- Keep your belongings with you
- Don’t cut in line
- Don’t push
- Move forward as the line moves
- Wait until you are called
- Be ready to talk
- It’s ok to ask questions
- Be friendly
Asking for Directions
