We have been receiving a lot of inquiries about our Functional Skills System apps over the last few days. Many people have noticed that our 42 Functional Skills System apps are no longer available in the Apple App Store. In fact, it was no less than 30 minutes after we took them out of the store that we received an email from a customer asking what happened. We know that many people purchased the applications and have been using them since 2010 with great success. Apple released a new version of their iOS (8.4) that caused the applications to work incorrectly and cease to function. The videos do not play correctly and the app does not work the way it should. We made a decision to take them off of the store while we put a plan together on what we want to do next. It would not be fair or honest to sell a product that did not work.
Please Be Patient
We are working on a plan to put our videos back into the store, but we are still coming up with ideas. We always want to be on the leading edge of technology while still making a product that is affordable for our customers. There are no timelines or ideas set in stone so we will update as we continue to build a plan. The good news is that the applications still work if you already purchased them and are running them on a device with an older iOS, but DO NOT delete the apps or update your iOS to 8.4 or beyond. It will cause the apps to not function and there is no way to get them back.
The Apple App Store is great because it provides a backbone and the infrastructure to reach millions of people. It also limits a developer because you have to respond quickly to Apple’s design changes, and being a small company we have limited resources to do that. We want to make sure that we are able to have a quality product that adds a lot of value to our customers. Those things take time so please be patient and know that we are doing our best to figure out how to get you all of our older and newer videos. Thank you for following us and loving what we do!
UPDATE: We have noticed that by updating to the current version of iOS (9.0.2) the videos are now playing correctly in our apps again. Apple must have released a fix that made the video function correctly again.
